È Faith Kipyegon la campionessa del mondo sui 1500 metri. La keniana ha anticipato la volata finale allungando nell’ultimo giro e ha chiuso con il tempo di 3’54″87. Alle sue spalle l’etiope Diribe Welteji (3’55″69) e l’olandese Sifan Hassan (3’56″00). Per Kipyegon si tratta del terzo titolo iridato, a cui si affiancano i due titoli olimpici.
L’azzurra Ludovica Cavalli ha concluso in 11esima posizione con il tempo di 4’01”84, migliorando ancora il suo primato personale (quasi 1” in meno) ma soprattutto realizzando una misura che le permette di accedere alle Olimpiadi di Parigi 2024.
